GENESYS Harnesses the Power of Augmented Reality

GENESYS is always choosing to step into the lead when it comes to cutting edge technology in the engineering and manufacturing industries. Recently that meant developing commercial uses for the Microsoft HoloLens augmented reality technology.

Augmented Reality is different from the more well know virtual reality in one key way. In virtual reality everything you see is digitally rendered, much like a video game. On the other hand, in augmented reality a 3D digital object is modeled onto the real world. So it is similar to seeing a hologram like in Star Wars or Iron Man.

Using the HoloLens GENESYS is able to leverage the in house 3D modeling talent that we have to bring our customers equipment to life before it is ever built. We are able to render the equipment in Augmented Reality and place that equipment on the floor of the shop or plant at actual scale to evaluate the efficacy of the equipment design.

As time goes on a software developers are able to get more our of the hardware we believe this type of technology will become ubiquitous in all types of manufacturing and construction. Even now people are finding creative uses for HoloLens like building complex structures.

We are just getting started with augmented reality and we will continue to push the boundaries of available technology to stay on the cutting edge.
